Asakusa has a large number of Buddhist temples. Many of them are over 1000 years old, yet they are perfectly preserved and are considered as one of the most significant landmarks of both Asakusa and Tokyo.

These temples are mostly open to public and give place to festivals and Buddhist rituals where many people gather regardless of their religious preferences, specially for New Year Eve.
Shrines are sanctuaries dedicated to the practice of Shintoism, the oldest and most practiced religion in Japan.

There are many famous Shinto shrines in Asakusa, such as Asakusa Shrine, which is over 400 years old and hosts many popular festivals throughout the year, such as the Sanja Matsuri.

As with the Buddhist temples, many people gather to celebrate and participate in these festivals regardless of their religion or particular beliefs.
Asakusa is the oldest Geisha district in Tokyo. You can find them either dancing at exclusive centers or just walking down the street.

There are still many Geishas active in Asakusa and provide different kinds of amusement.
Senso Temple is the most famous Buddhist temple in Asakusa, as well as the oldest and most significant temple in Tokyo.

Senso Temple hosts several festivals all the year, the most famous being Sanja Matsuri, which lasts 3 or 4 days and attracts a large amount of visitors.
Festivals or "matsuris" are religious celebrations held frequently in temples or shrines in Japan. Asakusa is famous for hosting big festivals almost the whole year, being Sanja Matsuri one of the most popular of them.

Festivals in Asakusa are not exclusive of temples and many of them are celebrated on the streets.
Sky Tree is the tallest tower of Japan and the second biggest structure of the world.

Sky Tree has become one of the most important landmarks of Japan.
